MATCH REPORT
A beautiful day at Ebernoe, a warm welcome, a cracking tea and well-kept Badgers on tap at the Stag – would could possibly be better? The answer sadly was the Mariners’ batting.
We put Ebernoe into bat and they started strongly, Ben in particular coming in for some stick without bowling badly. But he stuck at it and started beating the bat regularly. From 80 for 1 after 16 overs, AMCC bowlers clawed back the game with wickets for returning heroes Jake (3) and Wooters (2), and for Ben (3) and Harry (2). All out 140. Very good all-round bowling performance, good ground fielding and excellent catches by Wilkie, Fin and James. Although the pitch was a bit low and sticky and the outfield was slow, it felt we only needed a good partnership or two.
Unfortunately we didn’t manage it, wickets fell regularly and no batter made double figures. Rather a humbling defeat in the end, we are missing our best bats and it showed.
Onwards and upwards to Elstead!
